Stamping Timesaving Tip – “Stamped Scraps”

Thank-you note scraps

Let’s be real . . . stamping can make a mess!  Even if you want to make a card at the last-minute, do you really want to take out all your supplies, make a card, and then clean up?

So how can you be ready to make a last-minute card with little to no stamping or mess?

It just takes a little preparation!

I have found that if I am in a stamping mood and am already in the middle of a creative mess, I should just keep on stamping!  A stamp will have to be cleaned whether you use it one time or many, so I figure I may as well get a few uses out of each stamp that I am already using before I clean it.  For example, if I am stamping a flower for one card, I will stamp a bunch of extras for future cards – if I have time I cut them all out, or if I don’t have much time, I just leave them uncut.  To maintain a little stockpile, I store these little “stamped scraps” by category in little sandwich baggies or in a mini notecard file.    Then, when I need a quick card – I can just look through my “stamped scraps” stockpile and either repeat a design I have already used or come up with a quick design.

"Stamped Scraps"

Because I had a little stockpile of already-stamped flowers, I could make a quick card that turned out like this:

Flowers on Circles on Circle Card

No stamping or glue required!  I just had to finish cutting out some flowers and use some little adhesive tabs to put it all together.

Hand Stamped Palm Tree “Thinking of You” Card

Palm Tree "Thinking of You" Card

Many of the stamps and papers I have are flowery and feminine, so it can be a bit challenging to come up with a  more manly design for a stamped card.  For this card, I decided to start with a brown circle card (Studio G, Michael’s) and colored a Palm Tree stamp (All Night Media) that I stamped on a white notecard.  I then carefully pasted and trimmed the palm tree portion and stamped and layered the “Thinking of You” sentiment.  I hope the end result helped to brighten my grandpa’s day!
