Phone-Themed Birthday Wishes Card

Operation Write Home offers a weekly sketch to inspire crafters to make cards for deployed servicemen and women to send home to family and friends.  Here is this week’s sketch:

Operation Write Home Sketch 143

And here’s my take on it:

“just calling to say birthday wishes today” rubber sentiment stamp (gina k. designs) Patterned Paper (Jillibean Soup – Neapolitan Bean Bisque 6x6 mini pad),1 ½ inch Circle Punch (EK Success)

I varied my strip measurements slightly from the sketch so that the cute number buttons on my patterned paper would show up better.  It took me awhile to decide what patterns and colors I wanted to use – the jillybean soup paper pad I was using has a bunch of cute calling-theme papers – including the buttons and phone image on this card.  And the papers matched the “calling” sentiment well, even though I got them at different times (I bought the paper first and then received the stamp as a prize, so it was fun to combine them on this card:)

Thanks for taking a look at my blog!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE that paper, and how clever to make the strips different widths to highlight the numbers! The phone is darling, and I love that it’s red. Those of us who lived through the Cold War know that’s the color phone for the most important calls!
